I had a very positive experience with Classic Pianos in Bellevue, both with the store itself and with Chun-Wei, who helped me through the purchase of a pre-owned Yamaha N1X.
The showroom has a large variety of instruments to try. Yamaha … More is a major part of their selection, with both new and used instruments, including digital pianos, hybrids, uprights, and grands ranging from smaller models to full-size concert grands. It is a good place to actually sit down and compare different instruments rather than just look at specifications. The sales staff I spoke with were knowledgeable about the instruments and could explain meaningful differences between models while still giving me plenty of time to try them for myself.
Not every acoustic piano I tried was perfectly tuned or prepared at the time I happened to play it, but I saw technicians working on pianos during several of my visits. More importantly, if you are seriously considering a particular instrument, they are willing to have it checked or adjusted and let you come back to try it again. I think that matters quite a bit when shopping for a used piano.
I eventually bought a pre-owned Yamaha N1X after several visits. During the process, I found a few things I wanted checked, including two keys that were returning slowly and a question about the soft pedal. Chun-Wei was patient through the repeated visits and comparisons, followed up with their technician, kept me informed when the inspection took longer than expected, and arranged for me to try the piano again after it had been serviced. I never felt pressured to make a quick decision. Once I decided to buy it, the transaction was straightforward and delivery was arranged quickly. The piano has been working wonderfully at home, and I have been very happy with the purchase. Chun-Wei has also continued to be helpful after the sale, including helping me find a printed owner's manual.
Another thing I appreciate is that Classic Pianos publishes its warranty and trade-up policies clearly. A piano, especially a hybrid or acoustic piano, is a significant purchase, and having clearly stated policies makes the decision feel more comfortable.
BTW, Chun-Wei speaks both English and Mandarin, which may also be helpful for customers who prefer discussing the details of a piano purchase in either language.
